Horses > Rachael Waller Photography  > Animals > Canyon Creek Farm..Saving One Herd at a Time..
~Every photograph has a story this is Canyon Creek’s~

My passion for this farm started late one afternoon in Oct 2005 I stood in the pasture with my camera in hand as the first load of babies ran past me, some stopped to see what I was up to, scared, curious, all separated from the herd they had known all their lives.. babies from their momma’s ...momma's from babies who had already gone to slaughter or live shipped to Europe & Asia for human consumption. I felt a stillness then a faint echo...of the one's that weren't here.

I can't explain what these horses have given me...only that I can breathe again. I lost my 8 month old Oldenburg Warmblood colt “Finale” on a cold January morning 2006 in a tragic accident. As the truck pulled up to take him away I had to leave. I went to go sit with the babies at Canyon Creek. To feel that hot breath and a soft nose of a foal on my face was my healing, as it has been for many others since then.

I have been a horse woman all my life. I have seen rescues come and go, this is a different story. One that is actually making a change, one that truly cares about the animals and the people they connect with. This is a farm that won't adopt a horse to "just anyone" and I say "BRAVO!"

This farm SAVES horses from killer buyers often down to the wire at auction ...These horses are carefully matched with people... as it should be and the after care is just as incredible. Take a look at this gallery filled with Registered Quarter horses, paints, outstanding and well bred spotted drafts, warmbloods, and you tell me if they deserve to die horrific deaths.
They didn't ask to be born, but they all were, and it is up to horse lovers like us to take a stand against slaughter and cruel treatment of our majestic treasures.

The word "rescue" has gotten a bad rap as Tammy at CCF says “the only thing we are rescuing is their future. They belong in a stable NOT on a table."
By purchasing one of these photos from the Canyon Creek Gallery you are supporting
their efforts to save more. I donate ALL proceeds from this gallery to them.

Some people ask me "how can you donate so much?"

My answer is simple, " because during life, death, love, and laughter, they have taken me on this journey that I never expected and one that is deep in my heart. They share their souls with me, how can I make a profit from a gift that is so special as a saved life? All of them, including my own, have given me memories that I would have never known without them , and there is nothing better then having my camera in hand walking with them as the sunsets on another day of a wonderful life.”

My Family and I are VERY proud to own 5 of these beauties - My registered American Quarter horses (AQHA) are from- Dash for Cash, Doc Bar, Lightning Bar, Joe bee, Quincy, Skip, Poco Bueno, Jet/Three bars. Just to give you an idea of the incredible breeding stock my five have. There are more just like them!

I am proud & honored to photograph their lives...Hoping to change the view of PMU horses- leaving the stigma behind..one herd and image at a time.

Thank you for viewing and THANK YOU CANYON CREEK for saving their precious lives. To learn more about the hormonal replacement drug PREMARIN which is supplied by PMU horses via Pregnant Mare Urine. Please go to http://www.canyoncreekfarm.com
